I created my digital doodling using the program Adobe Photoshop. I created this doodle using the pen tool, the brush tool, and the pencil tool. The doodle consists of different lines, shapes, colors and layers. There are many things that you can create just by using the pen, pencil, and brush tool.

I enjoyed making this doodle, it was fun and easy. I found it interesting that you could make so many different designs from basic shapes and lines. I think that Adobe Photoshop is a great program and that this exercise could be useful for teaching children how to do digital doodling.

My Tee shirt design is about land pollution. I think that pollution is a big problem and that we need to do more to prevent it from getting worse. I made this design using Adobe Photoshop. I used the text tool and different layer effects. The top portion of the design is a picture of a landfill, with facts about pollution. The bottom portion of the design has a picture of a mall. The picture of the mall represents shopping and how everything we buy comes with a lot of packaging that ends up in a landfill. The layer effects on the landfill represent how we cover up landfills and hide what is underneath to make it look better, even though we know it is still a landfill. A lot of what we throw away could be recycled if we just took the time to sort it out. Pollution has negative effects on our health and will only get worse over time.

Video Production Journal

Pre-Production

What inspired me to create a scary movie trailer was watching scary movies and movie trailers. I enjoyed transforming an ordinary house into a scary movie set. You can transform any room to look a certain way just buy using special effects and controlling the lighting.

In my video I will show the action of suspense and excitement through the characters and demonstrate the conflict between the two friends and the evil that comes from within the house. I want the audience to feel excitement and have them wanting  to know what happens next, and keep them wondering weather the friends ever make it out alive.

If I want to make my movie better, I could research the filming process of creating a scary movie. I could find ways to improve my video and get tips on how to create certain effects that my video is lacking. I could compare my movie trailer to other trailers and see the differences between them.

The anxieties I have about this project is that it might not appeal to everyone. Some people might enjoy it and others might think that it is too boring for them. The challenge is getting people to want to see your movie after watching the trailer, you only have a short period of time to show what your movie is about without giving it away entirely.

The characters of the narrative are the two friends, Vanessa and Scott, Freddy the killer, and Elizabeth the young girl. Vanessa and Scott are the two main characters, Freddie and Elizabeth are the ones that live inside of the house. When the two friend's enter the house they encounter Freddie and Elizabeth when they are going from room to room, looking for a way out.

The main conflict of the story, is Vanessa and Scott trying to find a way out of the house. The main issue is if they ever escape and what happens to them in the end.

The sequence of the story is first showing the house, then the darkness of the house, then the two friends entering the house, then what happens once they get inside.

I want to create a mood that is very dark and eerie. I will use the x-ray effect to accomplish this, and adjust the lighting. I will also create this by the actions of the characters and the looks on their faces.

My piece will end with Elizabeth standing at the end of the hallway with the easel that they have found in other room's. The characters have come to a dead end, they are faced with the challenge of what they are going to do next and how they will make it out of there.
I would have to figure out where I would get an Pad to film to trailer, how long it would take to do the actual filming and what type of props and costumes that I am going to use in each of the different scenes.

Production

I have created a list of shots that I plan on producing. I will have a few action shots, still shots and one video. I will not have my own audio, but will add sound effects and music when I edit the film in iMovie. Each room will include different props and actors. The lighting will be captured by using the x-ray effect on the camera.

There are slides that narrate the story and go along with the sequence of events. I think what worked well in shooting my video was creating a story board of the sequence of events and taking multiple shots of the scenes that I wanted to include, and choosing which ones worked best. It made it easier to have a variety of images and clips to work with than just shooting a few. I enjoyed making the clip of the cat in iStopMotion, I think that it turned out nice. When I was filming, I would get more ideas for each of the scenes and find ways to incorporate them. I have learned about the various effects of the camera and how the lighting and sound can create a specific mood for a story. I am feeling good about the project and I think that I captured what I wanted to achieve.

Post Production

I am feeling good about the material that I have at this point. I decided what footage to use by inserting multiple images of the same shot and choosing which one looks best and where it fits in, in the sequence. I have rearranged the clips several times and I am satisfied with the solution. I have changed the number of seconds on each slide, and have added music to the movie trailer. When I showed the movie trailer to other people, they said that it looked spooky and could tell what type of movie that it was for.

 Presentation and Distribution

The strengths of finished piece are that you can tell exactly what type of movie it is for and it shows just enough footage to get an idea of what happens in the movie without completely giving it away. Important lessons that I learned to apply to my next piece are, make a list of things that you will need for the film, test out the location that you would like to film each scene, and also create a storyboard of what you would like to do before you start filming. The pleasures of being a video author is that you get to show the viewers your vision, they get the chance to see the way you imagine things to be.  If a viewer is reading your story from a text, the way they see your story might be very different from the way the author had imagined it. The authors intentions might get confusing to the viewer, if they are just reading it, but when they see it brought to life it gives them a better understand of it.

I think that I have accomplished my goals. The responses that I have received about the movie trailer were satisfying. People said that they liked the special effects and the lighting that was used. They also liked the music and the costume choices. They said that creating the movie trailer looked like it was a lot of fun, and wanted to know where I came up with the idea and how long it took to film.

Apocalyptic Zine Cover Design

Pre-Production

1a. Some movies that I have seen that are based on apocalyptic scenarios are, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, and Dawn of the Dead.

1b. I have imagined what could happen and how things could change from a disaster, but I haven't done anything to prepare for it.

1c. Some of the things that could cause the end of the world are, war, disease, alien invasions, nuclear weapons, and natural disasters.

1d. We can't prevent the end of the world, but we can do things to prevent it from happening sooner. We could stop polluting the earth and slow down global warming, and also keep peace with each other and not have any more wars.

2a. In my apocalyptic Scenario, there is a major hurricane that destroys most of the world.

2b. What causes this is nature and climate change.

2c. Only about 500,000 people survive from this hurricane.

2d. Survival strategies would be to gather any materials and food that is left and still good. People would have to find materials in the destruction to build a small shelter, until someone is able to save them, and take them to another place in the world that has not been destroyed.

2e. I do not fear this apocalypse because I do not live in an area where hurricanes form and are common.

2f. There is a chance that I could face this apocalypse, if I move to another area that is known for having hurricanes, or if I am on vacation in one of these places.

This is a movie poster that I have edited in Photoshop. I used various effects in Photoshop to make this really look like me.
